MTB: Settle Loop
The first section of the Pennine Bridleway to be opened in the Yorkshire Dales, the Settle Loop takes you on a variety of tracks; gravel, natural grassland and rocky limestone sections. It also gives great views out over the southern section of the Dales. It may be a short route but it involves a big climb out of Settle so expect to do some hard work.Route Info
The Settle Loop is a classic little circuit, but with a tough climb to get you going. Settle is a lively little market town and Three Peaks Cycles on the market square can hire you a bike, or sort out any mechanical problems you have.
The first part of the climb out of Settle is on tarmac and then becomes a broad stone track. On to tarmac again with great views of Attermire Scar, then it is on to Stockdale Lane – a stone and then grass track.
A fast grassy descent leads to Gorbeck Road, another primarily stony track. This is a quick undulating track with a final quick descent. The final section is back on grass for a lovely run back down into town.
